While the signs of Christmas maybe overwhelmingly evident in your hometown or country, you will find no outward signs of it in the this land. However, this does not mean that Christmas has not come, for it has...it is in the hearts of the few who have chosen to follow Christ as Savior. Pray for national believers this week as you celebrate with family and friends and in large numbers, for many of them will be alone in remembering Christ's birth and will have no open opportunity to express their joy over the coming of Christ to this earth. Pray that they will be encouraged in reading the story of Christ's birth, remembering that He came to the poorest and lowliest of places, among the humblest of people. May they be reminded that when He comes again, it will be with power and glory, and on that day, they will be able to openly proclaim Him their King!
On Friday, December 8, there will be a carol service at one of the churches for foreigners in the country we love. This is a time when people from many nationalities gather together for a time of singing traditional songs from their home countries. For many it is the only time in the year when they will enter a church building.

Pray that they will hear the message of Christmas and consider its place in their lives.
Merry Christmas!

Christmas is a great time to reach out to your neighbors from all nations. Foreign-born believers will be pleased when you wish them "Merry Christmas" in their native language. (And they'll enjoy helping you with the pronunciation!) Here are Christmas greetings in over 75 languages.

From an IFGF pastor.
As I post this, I remember that Hosea recorded the word of the Lord: out of Egypt I will call My Son. This was later fullfilled in the life of Jesus (see Matthew 2).

EGYPT: GLAD TIDINGS FROM CAIRO
Charisma Online (http://www.charismanow.com)
December 16, 2005
By J. Lee Grady

... Normally I wake up to the sound of an alarm clock at 6 a.m. But today, long before that hour, I was jarred out of a deep sleep by the sound of a Muslim cleric singing his prayers over a loudspeaker near my apartment on the Nile River. ... [O]ne of the world’s oldest Christian communities is rooted here. These Christians have lived in the shadow of Islam for centuries, enduring persecution and discrimination. But I am happy to announce that the Egyptian church is headed toward its finest hour.

... “God is showing us that he loves the Arab people,” my new friend explained. Egypt’s Christians are holding fast to a promise from the prophet Isaiah, who predicted hundreds of years ago that spiritual renewal would sweep from Egypt to the other nations of the Middle East.

“In that day there will be a highway from Egypt to Assyria, The Assyrians will go to Egypt and the Egyptians to Assyria. The Egyptians and Assyrians will worship together. In that day Israel will be the third, along with Egypt and Assyria, a blessing on the earth.”
(Isaiah 19:23-24, NIV)

... when you visit this region you realize more is happening under the surface than what we hear about in Western media reports. God is on the move. ... Arab Christians feel neglected and abandoned by many of us in the West. They don’t understand why some Western Christians seem to show favoritism toward Jews, especially when the Israeli government has at times persecuted and harassed Arab believers in the Palestinian territories. +

Egyptian Christians love all lost people, this leader told me. “But our love for the Jewish people should not cause us to love any other group of people less.” During my December visit to Cairo, just a week before Christmas, I was reminded that Mary and Joseph brought the infant Jesus to Egypt to hide him from King Herod (see Matthew 2:13-15). ...

+ [This is particularly an issue when Christians are unjustly biased towards those who are Jews according to the flesh while they neglect to show kindness to God's chosen people who have faith, whether Jews or Arabs or from other ethnic backgrounds in Israel or elsewhere. The issue is: will we look to politics or will we seek for the presence of God.]

"Everybody who heard was amazed at what the shepherds said!" - Luke 2:18

PRAISE:
God is so gracious! Recently, one of the PTAP requests was that more financial resources would be made available for a national worker in the AP. A church within the region heard of the need and responded in large measure. Added to this blessings, was the opportunity for the national worker to meet a new Muslim Background Believer from his own country living in a neighboring AP country.

PETITION:
Please pray for some seasoned workers who are quietly being deported from our country – 5 families in total. Pray for the many lives of Muslim Nationals that they have touched over the years. Pray that their transition back to their home countries as God supplies all their needs in His perfect timing.

Pray for the National Muslim Background Believers. Some of them are not able to celebrate Christmas to any extent due to family pressures and the inability to attend any events. Pray for Christ's love and joy to be with them. Pray for those who disciple them that they together would be able to celebrate, even in twos and threes.

Pray against the use of Qatt in the Yemeni culture. It is a drug that has made the workforce highly ineffective. This drug also affects the young, scattered and immature Yemeni church. Pray that Muslim National believers would break free of the use of this drug.

Pray for the upcoming Asian Games 2006 to be held in Qatar. Pray that sports ministries would be able to partner with the expatriate churches – of all ethnicity, to be able to reach out to the many Muslim athletes and supports attending the games.

Pray for G, a middle aged single lady who is seeking. She has rejected her Muslim roots but is groping for truth. She recently met with several Christian ladies – one she worked with several years ago. She initiated contact because of the joy she saw in this woman’s life. Pray that G would meet Jesus during this holiday time.

TESTIMONY:
Sitting in my apartment studying, I heard a knock at the door. It was my downstairs neighbor, Latifa. She needed me to help her with her sister’s homework. Happily, I agreed to help and we started reviewing parts of speech (thankfully now I know them in Arabic). After we finished with the homework, we started chatting and somehow she started asking me spiritual questions. Then she asked, “How are you clean before God?” To her, there are certain things you do to be clean: wash, pray, and follow various laws. I was able to explain stories from the Scriptures about what it means to be clean before God. I explained that Jesus alone makes our hearts clean. At the end of our conversation, she walked away wondering what it all meant. Please pray for Latifa. Pray that she would realize that Jesus alone cleanses her. Pray for more opportunities to share Christ with Latifa, her sisters and her family during this festive season – Christmas, New Years and Eid Al Adha happening over the next 4 weeks.

BECAUSE YOU CAME

Into the gutters, the pits, and sewers of our sin He came -
hating our sin, but loving us He came!
He Who was clothed in light and glory came down -
Down into the gutter, the pit, the sewer of my sin He came -
And I will never be the same because He came!

When He came Angels chose to weep at Heaven¹s loss.
But no! He will have JOY announce His coming because
Mankind gains from Heaven's loss!
All the joy, all the glitter, all the glory, all the gloss -
And then we nailed Him to the cross!

You look at me and you see sin - enormous sin and slime and shame!
You see betrayal and death and dirt and I'm to blame!
You may not recognize me as His dear child
since I have crucified Him again and again, to my great shame!
But I am not what I might have been without Him!
I will NEVER be the same because He came!

Where's the glory? Where's the glitter? Where's the gloss?
Buried beneath the blood at the foot of the cross.
Still there is suffering; still there is pain;
Still it often seems there is nothing to gain.
There is an end. He brings us to the depths until we come to Himself.
He stooped that low that we must find Him by digging deeper.
And I cannot stop until I immerse myself in Him, whatever it takes!
I may not - I cannot - I will not be the same because He came!

The angels said, "Glory to God!" and I say "Glory" too.
There is no life without the life in You!
Where can I go? It's totally true
that no one has the Words but You!
You can't let me go and I can't stay untrue to You!
Let's make Christmas together in my heart and in my home
and we will never ever be alone!
Forgive me! No matter what it looks like I cannot walk away
and find another god or go another way - it cannot be!
I cannot EVER be the same - because You came!
